About

The House of the Heart

Sonqo Wasi is a small grassroots organisation with an administrative base in the United Kingdom and activities in the Global South — mainly India and Peru, with occasional projects in Africa and elsewhere. The founders currently deliver the activities directly, on the ground.

Our philosophy

We celebrate. We inspire. We protect.

Too much charity has taught us that good is done through sacrifice. We believe the opposite: joy is a revolutionary act, and celebration is the most radical way to serve life. At Sonqo Wasi we don't see 'problems to solve' but seeds to light. Every young person, every community, every gesture already carries a life force: we create the space for it to shine.

Our three pillars

What guides our work

1

Empower through knowledge

Personal growth and collective transformation are inseparable. We offer simple tools that bring together traditional wisdom and modern educational methods: mindfulness practices, creative expression, artistic and community experiences. The goal is simple: help people loosen inner blocks, find clarity and live with more coherence.

2

Inspire and uplift the new generations

Young people don't need to be 'saved': they need to remember they were born to shine. Sonqo Wasi promotes education, creative labs and cultural initiatives that awaken enthusiasm, trust and resilience. We want generations that are not afraid to dream, with concrete tools to face life's challenges and the freedom to invent new ones.

3

Care for Pachamama, Mother Earth

We are not 'activists': we are children returning to honour their mother. Our workshops happen in natural spaces whenever possible, and every activity carries a seed of ecological awareness, respect for indigenous communities and sustainable ways of living.

Our vision

A win-win-win

  • Children and young people gain spaces of joy, creativity and confidence, free of charge.
  • Communities come together around their children and rediscover the value of celebrating.
  • The Earth gains a new generation that feels it as home and family, and chooses to care for it.
Who we work with

Children and young people aged 5–16

We work with children and young people aged 5 to 16 in underserved or rural communities. They are referred by partner schools, community leaders and local NGOs, or reached through open drop-in activities in public spaces.

Who is behind Sonqo Wasi

A small group, on the ground

Sonqo Wasi was founded by a small group of people who have spent years travelling and working with communities in Latin America, Asia and Africa. The creative and movement programmes we use in our workshops were designed and are led by Luka Luna, who makes them available to Sonqo Wasi free of charge. Trustees' names and the governing document will be published on the Transparency page as soon as the charity registration is complete.

Why Sonqo Wasi?
  • — Because change does not come from guilt, but from shared joy.
  • — Because the Earth needs to be loved and respected, not only defended.
  • — Because knowledge is a gift that belongs to everyone.

Sonqo Wasi is the House of the Heart. And a heart that beats strongly can light up other hearts.
